Zea Mays

The story started with a single mother, Keiko Fukushima who has 4 children from different fathers, moving to a small apartment. To the proprietor, she claimed that he only brought one of his children who was 12 years old, Akira. While the three siblings were hidden secretly because the three did not have civil records. The two youngest children, Yuki and Shigeru hidden into the suitcase. While the older ones, Kyoko, comes separately after Akira picked her up at the station.

At first, they lived happily and adequately. Although Keiko was working and being so busy, he still took the time to teach her children by herself since the four children did not attend school. Sometimes she came home late at night and woke her children up after she was buying their favorite food. The firstborn child, Akira managed the finance and expenses. The second child, Kyoko was responsible for washing clothes secretly so as not to be known to other residents of the apartment. Aside from Akira, the three children not allowed to leave.

The conflict started when the mother, Keiko has a boyfriend and refused to tell him about her children. Keiko started leaving her children for a long time. Keiko came home to pack her belongings and left. She promised to go home at Christmas, but she broke her promise and never returned. Akira as the oldest one had to play the role of parents.

When the money left by his mother began to run out, Akira began to think of ways to get money. He met his father who worked at Haneda airport. The father could not help him, just gave him a little money. When he applied for work, he was rejected because he was still underage. He also did not dare to report because he was fear that his younger siblings would be found out and did not allowed to stay in the apartment. Their lives was getting harder. Water, telephone, gas, and electricity was no longer available because they did not able to pay the bills. (Never mind paying the bills, for food they have to wait for the rest of the grocery store near his apartment). They took water for drinking and bathing from the park and public toilets near the apartment.

Akira began to allow his younger sister and brother to come out quietly to the park. This was where Shigeru began to start a conversation with a schoolgirl, Saki and their relationship blossomed into friendship. Saki often visited the apartment. As a friend, Saki tried to help them earn money by visiting a karaoke lounge with a man. Akira who knew about it refused Saki's money and kept away from her.

My tears began to come out when Akira's sister, Yuki fell from the chair and died. Akira did not know what to do. With the rest of the coins he had, he tried to contact his mother. Since he did not find his mother, Akira finally met Saki to borrow some money, bought a dozen of Yuki's favorite chocolates, and put them with stuffed bunny on Yuki's death body in the suitcase. Akira and Saki brought the suitcase and buried it in a hand-dug grave to the near Haneda airport as Akira had promised Yuki to see the plane there.

The ending of the film might disappoint you. The flow seemed flat and monotone, but this was what made the film unique and liked a true story in everyday life. Although this story was not as tragic as the original story (read Sugamo child-abandonment incident/Sugamo Kodomo Okizari Jiken), it was enough to make me felt touched. I literally recommend this film. To watch this film, click the following link.

If my life is span of days
I am grateful to have met the 'Dawn'
Making me embrace my dreams
If this is a blazing noon
I am waiting for the 'Dusk' to be my happy ending

The world is the way to construct the unfinished framework
I always sound like it
Like I lost my dream
And as I know, it is gone
But I sincerely prayed together and had a dream
It’s the time to find the missing wing

After the heavy rain and winds, the rainbow will rise
Surviving in a hard time is a gift

The sunset in the sky is as a bold embroidered
People could carry their own dream
The dark night sky is a beautiful thing
One by one, the moon try to embroidered its beauty

No one should giving up
Gotta get up, we run and run

To be so strong
that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
to look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

In the place you find peace
One of god's wonderful place
Listening to the symphony of waves
The voice of crashing waves in your ears
Listening the sounds of the beach
Feeling one with the rhythm and harmony

In the beach you find peace
Looking the stretch of endless blue
A boundary between sky and sea fade away
Never-ceasing little waves running at you
Playing across the shores

In the beach you find peace
Feeling the mild salty mist wet your skin
The smell of the salt refreshed your tired minds.
A chilly breeze blowing on your face
Setting your soul free

Let’s have some fun
Running on the border of two worlds
Feeling the freedom to run
Being totally free
Walking bare foot
Making footprint in the sand
Picking up shells
Building stormy sand castles
Let's being a kid
Forgetting your problems and being happy

Source: https://reelrundown.com/tv/top-30-best-historical-korean-dramas-sageuks-you-must-watch
Do you like watching Korean dramas? I do like it very much. I've watched it since I was in elementary school. First drama I've watched was Endless love (2000). Maybe also called as Autumn tale or Autumn In My Heart. Have you watched it? It really tears me so much (if you like romance tragedy, you should watch it. Sure, it will drain your tears).

Same with Endless Love, Jewel in The Palace (2003) also touched me. (Actually, I'm easily touched person. Not only because of sadness but also something amazed me). This drama made me both. This historical drama was inspired by the real story about a remarkable and determined girl who became the first woman to overcome social discrimination.

Although in some scenes felt like beyond the limits of reason, but the main character, Jang Geum truly inspired me with her character who dared to take different path and was not afraid to face the risks.

Jewel in The Palace is really unforgettable. It's inspired me about life. The most memorable dialogue  was when lady Jung ask to Jang Geum "If you faced to choose life with easy or difficult way, what will you choose?" she replied that "Can we choose? I choose to life in easy way, but sometimes I get some difficulties."

I learned from it so much. No matter how many times you fall, don't be afraid to wake up. You should always do the best things in many chances you have.

NOTE:
actually I kept writing some articles in English (even my English wasn't good) to improve my English, to make it fluently, and to learn more vocabulary.  You can help me by correcting and giving some advice. Thank you :)
